Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
I pray that you are all well and in the best state of Imaan, Ameen!
Aisha Radi Allahu anha states that: '' Rasoolallah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam bed was made of animal skin, which had leaves of date palm trees.''
Imam Muhammad Al Baaqir Radi Allahu anhu says that: ''Somone asked Aisha Radi Allahu anha, ''How was the bed of Rasoolallah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam?'' She replied, ''It was made of leather, in which was filled the coir of date palm.''
Hafsa Radi Allahu anha was asked how was the bed of Rasoolallah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam in your house? she replied, ''It was canvas folded into two, which was spread for Rasoolallah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam to sleep on. On one night I thought if I folded it into four and spread it, it would become softer. I folded itt, and spread it that way. In the morning Rasoolallah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam asked, ''What did you spread for me last night?'' I replied, '' It was the same bed; I only folded it into four so that it may become softer.'' Rasoolallah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam said, '' Leave it in its original form. Its softness deprived me from my prayers (Tahajjud) at night.''
Hazrat Umar Radi Allahu anhu states that: ''Rasoolallah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam was sleeping on a mat, the marks of the mat was left on His Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam blessed side. I said, ''Ya Rasoolallah! Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam only if you would sleep on something better than this.'' Rasoolallah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam replied, ''What have I to gain in this world, this world is like if a traveller is travelling in the sun and he sits under a tree and then gets up and goes.''
Look at the simplicity of Rasoolallah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam and we sleep on the best mattress available. There is no problem with sleeping on a good bed; however, you should make sure you wake up for Fajr Salaah. Unfortunately people stay in their beds and miss their Salaah but when it comes to waking up for work we will not miss a day. We should try to sleep on the floor at times following the Sunnah, Inshallah we will not have a problem waking up for Salaah!
Fi Aminillah
