Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
I Pray that you are all well and in the best state of Imaan, Ameen!
This is a remarkable story, Mashallah, it is one of the biggest duels of history, this event is in full detail, Inshallah I will write about it, taken from the book Sword Of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala.
There was a huge man who was of a tremendous height and bulk, and while on his feet he would tower above his fellow men. Sitting on his great horse, he looked postively unreal. Big, strong and fearless, he had a fierce countenance- an aspect which thrilled his comrades and and dismayed his enemies.
Who was this man? This was Amr bin Abd Wud. (We shall call him the Giant!) Horse and rider stood motionless as he let his gaze wander scornfully over the rank of Muslims.
Suddenly the giant rasied his head and roared: 'I am Amr bin Abd Wud. I am the greatest warrior in Arabia. I am invincible. I...I...'' He certainly had a high opinion of himself. 'Is there anyone among you who has the courage to meet me in personal combat?''
The challenege was received by Muslims in silence. They looked at one another. They looked at Hazoor e Paak Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam. But no one moved, for the Giant was famous for his strength and skill, and though wounded several times, had never yet lost duel, nor spared an opponent. It was said that he was equal to 500 horsemen; that he could lift a horse bodily and hurl it into the ground; that he could pick up a calf with his left hand and use it as a shield in combat; that he could...the stories were endless. The vivid Arab imagination had created around this formidable warrior a legend of invincibility.
So the Muslims remained silent, and the Giant laughed with contempt- a laugh in which the Quraish also joined, for they stood quite close to the ditch and could see and hear all that went on.
''So is there none among you who has the courage of a man? And what of your Islam? And your Prophet?' At this blasphemous taunt Hazrat Ali Radi Allahu anhu, Sher e Khuda ashraf786.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=21521 left his position in front of the rank of the Muslims, approached Hazoor e Paak Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam and sought permission to engage the challenger and silence his tongue once and for all. Rasoolallah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam replied: 'Sit down. This is Amr!' Hazrat Ali Radi Allahu anhu returned to his position.
There was another burst of scornful laughter, more taunts, another challenge. Again Hazrat Ali Radi Allahu anhu went up to Hazoor e Paak Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, again they Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam declined permission. More laughter, more taunts. Again the challenge from Amr, and this time more insulting than before. 'Where is your Paradise?' He shouted, 'Of which you say that those who lose in battle will enter it? Can you not send a man to fight me?'
When for the thrid time Hazrat Ali Radi Allahu anhu, Sher e Khuda, moved towards Rasoolallah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, the latter saw in Ali Radi Allahu anhu eyes a look which He Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam knew well; and then He Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam knew that Ali Radi Allahu anhu could no longer be restrained. He Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam looked at Ali Radi Allahu anhu fondly, for Ali Radi Allahu anhu was dearer to Him Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam than any other man. Rasoolallah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam took their Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam turban off and wrapped it around Hazrat Ali Radi Allahu anhu head. He Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam then took off His Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam sword and girded it at Hazrat Ali Radi Allahu anhu waist/ And Rasoolallah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam then prayed: 'O Lord! Help Him!'
This sword which Hazoor e Paak Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam now gave to Hazrat Ali Radi Allahu anhu had once belonged to an infidel by the name of Munabba bin Hajjaj. This man had been killed at the battle of Badr Shareef, and the sword had come to the Muslims as part of the spoils of the war. Hazoor e Paak Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam had taken the sword for themself Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam. Now in Hazrat Ali Radi Allahu anhu hand this was to become the, most famous sword in Islam, killing more men in fair combat than any sword in history. This was the ZULFIQAR!!!! Subhanallah!
Inshallah! More to come...
Fi Aminillah
