Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
this recipe was shared to me by sister tasleem and seeing as i have tried it and so have my bhabi and sister nomee i can say it is fool proof so i thought i'd share it with all of you too. this really is childs play.
Ingredients:
14oz porridge oats 12 tbsp golden syrup 12oz roasted almonds (chopped) - brown them under the grill. Quicker than doing in oven. Keep turning them. They go brown quite quickly. 9oz raisins 12oz marg 12oz brown sugar Method:
Line tray with baking paper (I use the teflon coated re-usable kind which costs more but is like a non stick tray meaning your food will come straight out without sticking to the paper).
Melt marg, syrup, b.sugar on low heat until fully melted.
Pour this mixture into oats, almonds and raisins and mix properly.
Bake on gas mark 4 for approx 20-40 mins or until golden-brown. (it may take a little longer and if you feel the bottom is done and the top still needs cooking then do it under the grill.
Leave to cool in the tray for about 5 mins then cut in to bars or squares and then leave to cool completely.
Once cooled remove from tray and keep in an airtight container.
