Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Sister Bintyhawa, the belief about our Beloved Master Sayyidinah Muhammad Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam being alive now (not as us) is independant of Madhhab.
If someone from the other side asked you about that then the person must be asked if one is Muslim, does one has to believe etc............and when reading the Kalimah does the person read it with IS or WAS. There's only one proper way to read the Kalimah and it is thus:
Laailaha Illallah Muhammadur Rasoolullah (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam)
There's no deity apart from Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala) Muhammad (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam) IS His (sent) Messenger.
Notice that there's no and between Allah (Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala) and Muhammad (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam) in the Kalimah.
Some so called sunnis are not from the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama'at, be careful when a person say he's sunni. A proper Sunni from the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama'at is and will always be for celebrating Meelaad Shareef which is Islam's first Eid.
Inshah Allah! I'll explain further with a simple logic and with support from Qur'an Shareef and Hadith Shareeef how our Beloved Master Sayyidinah Muhammad Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam is still alive but not like us.

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu2)if u are a hanfi then do you have to believe that hazrat Muhammad Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam is still alive now? Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu Bismillahir Rahmaanir RahimWa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuIndeed Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) and His angels send blessings on the Prophet (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam); O People who Believe! Send blessings and abundant salutations upon Him. (Surah Al Ahzab 33, aayat 56)Fiqh-us-Sunnah, Book 65. Supplications, Volume 004 : Funerals and Dhikr. Fiqh 4.136A.Section : What is Meant by Invoking Blessings on the Beloved Prophet (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam)?Hazrat Aus Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu reported that the Beloved Prophet, Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam, said, "The best of your days is Friday, so send more and more greetings to Me on it, for your greetings are presented to Me." They asked, "How are our greetings presented to you while You are dead and Your body is turned into dust?" He replied, "Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, has forbidden the earth to consume the Bodies of the Prophets, Alayhimus Salaam." (Abu Daw'ud and Nasa'i)Sayyidinah Abu Hurairah Radi Allahu Ta'ala Anhu reported that the Beloved Prophet, Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam, said, "When any Muslim sends greetings to Me, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala returns my soul to Me so that I may respond to his greetings." (Reported by Abu Daw'ud with a sound chain of authorities)Conclusion1. From the Qur'an Shareef, we know from Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'ala that He and His Angels (Alayhimus Salaam) send blessings upon His Beloved Nabi Sayyidinah Muhammad Mustapha Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam and is asking those who believe to also send blessings and abundant salutations upon Him (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam).
2. From the Hadith Shareef we know from our Beloved Master Sayyidinah Muhammad Mustapha Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam that Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, has forbidden the earth to consume the Bodies of the Prophets (Alayhimus Salaam). We also learn that when a Muslim sends greetings to Him (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam), Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) returns His Soul to Him (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam) so that He (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam) may respond to the greetings of the Muslim.Since Allah (Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala) returns the Blessed Soul of our Beloved Master (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam) to Him so that He (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam) may respond to the greetings of the Muslims (Human, Jinns and Angels) we have the Undeniable Proof that we have a Living Nabi (Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam) Whose Blessed Soul is Permanently in His Blessed Body which Allah, Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala, has forbidden the earth to consume. Human beings may lag behind in sending Darood Shareef but not the Angels (Alayhimus Salaam) who night and day, never cease to continuously send greetings to Sayyidinah Rasoolullah Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam. There's not a single millisecond where Darood Shareef is not sent upon our Beloved Master Sayyidinah Muhammad Sallal Laahu Ta'ala Alayhi Wa Sallam which means that His Blessed soul is always in His Blessed Body.[/B][/color]
