Difference Between Memogate and Mehrangate

There is sea difference between the two cases which have recently taken Pakistan by storm, or shall we say which took Pakistani media by storm in the recent weeks. With all fairness, the common Pakistanis are not much bothered by these two, yet they are the two topics which are boiling right now.
It’s quite telling how President Zardari has produced yet another pigeon out of his hat and cajoling the judiciary and media with the movement of his eyebrows through pawns like Younus Habib and Advocate Yousuf. More characters will appear gradually as the case progresses in the Supreme Court to support both sides. In retaliation, PML-N has used its strings to activate characters to expose other cash-showers in recent and distant past.
We all know that nobody had the guts or intention to say No to ISI in the past. PML-N and PPP were major players and both knew that other would say amen to the cash if they would say No. After charter of democracy, things changed and it seemed that Benazir Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif had learned the lessons, but Benazir Bhutto again struck deal with Musharraf but then she regretted and backed off and paid the price with her life. Nawaz Sharif stood his ground against establishment and still doing so and paying the price too. Nobody including MQM, JUIF-F, ANP, JI, journalists and judges and generals is clear, but there is no use in boiling this stale curry.
Memogate was the real one. It was total treason. With full responsibility I can tell you that Husain Haqqani assured the US administration that he and his boss were willing to freeze the nuclear assets only if American would save them from coup and ensure another term, and a sustainable economic package to avoid the default. Americans didn’t trust Zardari and Mansoor Ijaz exploited the issue and then ISI and military and Supreme Court and PML-N also jumped into the fray, but out of nowhere efforts emerged to hush the matters. In his revenge, Zardari has come out with the mehrangate and Younus Habib to malign PML-N, ISI and some journalists.
