Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
I have recently joined this forum and I have a few questions in mind that have been troubling me for the past few days.
I am a university student doing very well at studies Maashah Allah. My parents are very proud of me as I have always had very good grades and I also managed to get into one of the top universities of the country. My problem is that I know a person who likes me and I like him as well. He wants to send his parents to my place for an official proposal. The thing that is troubling me is that we belong to different communities. As far as I have studied about Islam, Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala has allowed Muslim women to marry Muslim men, which is above all worldly restrictions of cast, creed, ethnicity, community or language. I doubt that my parents will not allow us to get married only because we do not belong to the same community. And I also will never go against their will. However, this person is a nice person, respects me alot, is from a very good family background and is an eligible bachelor in both religious and worldly matters. Can someone please guide me as to what Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala and Our Prophet Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam have said about such issues. Can you please also tell me some Quranic Surahs that I can recite for this matter?
My other problem is that I wish to take Hijaab, but I feel if I start taking the Hijab suddenly it would be abrupt and would create an odd situation. However if I wait till I get married and then I start wearing an Abaya (loose bodied gown with hijaab), would that be okay? Also, I highly doubt that my parents would allow me to wear the Abaya. On the other hand, the person who I want to get married to wants me to cover up myself completely and also wear hijaab.
Jazak Allah
