As-Salaam alaykum,
Says Allah Ta'ala in ayat 56 of Surat Ahzab (33:56) of the Holy Qur'an:--
"Verily, Allah and (all) His angels send blessings on the Prophet;
O you who believe! send (invoke) blessings upon him with a worthy
salutation of peace abundantly (and fervently)."
Salaat ala' Nabiy is a blessing beyond our understanding, which bears countless benefits... some of which are as follows:--
(1) It purifies one's actions.
(2) Lifts the reciter to a higher state of spirituality.
(3) The reciter is free of all fears.
(4) Become entitled to the Mercy and Blessings of Allah Ta'ala.
(5) Gets protection from the wrath of Allah Almighty.
(6) It is branded on the forehead of the reciter that he/she is free from hypocrisy and free from hell.
(7) Will be granted special consideration at the pool of Kauthar (heavenly spring)... and many more...
(after Imam Shams-ud-Din-Sakhawi in his work, 'Al Qawl ul Badi')
Al-Tabarani related on the authority of Anas, may Allah be pleased with him, saying:--
"The Messenger of Allah, Sallallahu alaihi Wasallam, said:-- 'Whoever sends upon me one
prayer, Allah will reciprocate it by sending 10 prayers upon him. Whoever sends upon me
10 prayers, Allah will send 100 prayers upon him. Whoever sends upon me 100 prayers,
Allah will bestow upon him relief from hypocrisy and hellfire, and grant him the companionship
of the martyrs on the Day of Judgement."
This is indeed a great affair! Relief from hypocrisy reflects completeness in faith and relief from hellfire reflects an individual's refraining from disobedience. Companionship of the martyrs in Paradise reflects the attainment of Allah's satisfaction with them.
In view of all this, we should increase the level/number of Salawaat ala Nabiy we recite DAILY....
ALLAHUMMA SALLI ALA' SAYYIDINA MUHAMMADIN, WA ALA AHLIHI, WA ASHABIHI WASALLAM.
