Things that happen on Tuesdays

I pray to Allah taala he keeps you and your family well and healthy at all times. Ameen.

I have a question that i have been wanting to ask for ages.
The people in the area where i live in Pakistan say or believe rather that if a baby boy was/is born on a tuesday than a lamb has to be sacrificed as this day is heavy on that child if this was not done.

Also men cannot have their haircuts on tuesdays and women are not allowed to wash their hair and also should not wash the clothes of the husband/sons.

Can you please clarify if any of the above is in shar'iat especially the child being born on a Tuesday.

All Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam


Jazakallah for your your question. However the question does seem somewhat superflous as there have been children who have been born on Tuesdays, and if it is a boy, then a male lamb is sacrificed for 'aqiqah, regardless of what day the child was born. This is a form of sadaqah, that is given to the poor, the relatives and neighbours, but it doesnt matter what day the child was born.


Men can have there haircut on any day they like, regardless of it being a Tuesday. But Jumah (Fridays), Eid Days, and other great Islamic days is more praiseworthy.


As far as women not being allowed to wash their hair, nor wash the clothes of their husbands and sons is also a myth. There is no evidence of this in the Qur'an al kareem, or shar'iyyah that states that women should do this.


None of the above can be found in the shar'iyyah, and none of it is binding upon any one. We should make du'a that Allah the Almighty keep us away from false traditions, and false sayings, ones which have no basis in Islam.
