Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
It is sunnah to eat with right hand. What does islam say about taking food from left hand. I mean if we are eating in a group, can we use left hold spoon with left hand to take curry from main vessel. some people mind if we use right hand to hold spoon to take curry from a vessel which is common for all. our salaiva from right hand will be on that spoon and when other use it they will get it in their right hand. Hope I have explained it clearly.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa SallamJazak'allah fpr your question. You must remember that all deeds that are good, and comply with the shar'iyyah, are started by the right hand. That includes eating, drinking, opening doors, books etc. It is true of what you have said about the saliva being left on the right hand when using the ladel to recieve curry, but there cannot be that much saliva on your hand! Surely, you would have given it a wipe, even though it was with your mouth. In this case, people should not mind that curry is taken with the right hand, although it has been used to eat with. All good works start with the right hand, as previously mentioned, although the hand may be used to eat. May Allah give us all the tawfiq to do what is right and according to the sunnah, and may He prevent us from dwelling to deep into matters that are not relevant. (Amin)Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM.
