Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa 'saabihi wa SallamJazak'allah for your question. The Qur'an al kareem states: 'Wa mayy yuti'illaha war rasula fa'ula'ika ma'alladhina an'amallahu 'alayhim minan nabiyyina was siddiqina wash shuhada'i was salihina wa hasuna ula'ika rafiqa''And he who obeys Allah and His Messenger then he will get the company of those who have been blessed by Allah, of the Prophets, and the truthful, and the martyrs, and the righteous, and what good companions they are'(AL-Qur'an an-Nisa:4:69) The reason for the revelation of this verse is that Hadrat Thu'ban Radi Allahu anhu was such a great devotee of the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, that he could never bear the seperation from his Master. One day he came to the presence of the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, as he was very sad and dejected. When the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam asked the reason for his sadness and dejection, he replied: "When I cannot bear your seperation in this worldly life, how will I gaze your beloved vision in the hereafter? My Beloved will be in the highest abodes of paradise while I would be wandering elsewhere. For me paradise would become a place of fear without you"This was the reason for the revelation of the verse of the Qur'an al kareem. Allah the Almighty knew what was in the heart of the Companion, and upon his requisition, he certified that not only you, but all the Prophets, all the truthful, all the martyrs, and all the pious, will have the company of Allah the Almighty, and the Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, as is stated in the verse above. For the second part of your question which states: 'If NO why.' Then there is no verse in the Qur'an al kareem, and no hadith, which terms any companion as being from the hellfire, so people should not be at liberty to decide for themselves, who will be from paradise, and who will be from hellfire ..... May Allah the Almighty give us all a good clean belief ( 'aqidah), in relation to all the Companions of the Beloved Messenger Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, and may He prevent us from having devilish thoughts.
