Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam
Intention, Heart and Action
The goodness of an action is dependent of the goodness of the heart, which is dependant of the intention. Everything about the hajj rests on the sincerity of the intention
Body, Mind and Heart
Many go to Hajj with their bodies; few take their minds and reasoning. The Hajj is not a human stampede or a suitcase of gifts. It is a treasure of meanings.Pilgrims must go to the Hajj with their minds and experience it in their hearts.
Returning to your source
The Hajj is not a journey of going; it is a journey of returning. The pilgrim is not going to Makkah, he is returning to his source, Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'alaa - The Source of Everything.
More to come........Inshah Allah

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam
Inward Journey The Hajj is an inward journey to the Ka'bah of the Heart and Soul.
True origin
We are from Hazrat Adam Alayhis Salaam
He was from Jannah,
and it is where we are heading,
Inshah Allah.
The Hajj is a reminder of 'heading home';
it is recognising our true origin.
Levels
There are three levels:
the Hajj of the Body (walking, standing, collecting and throwing),
the Hajj of the mind (performong the rites with understanding),
and the Hajj of the heart (performed in total submission to the Almighty)
Approach, not reach
The Hajj of the Heart
has no 'place' to reach.
It is a movement towards
an absolute goal,
returning to The Almighty
Whom one tries to approach.
Wake up call
Hajj is a wake up call
When death comes,
we will have no opportunity to delay,
or to complete unfinished tasks.
Hajj is an excellent time
to start setting things right.
More to come .........

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam
Revolutionary act
Hajj is a revolutionary act
that replaces aimlessness and evil forces
in life with a clear horizon and
free way to migration ti eternity
toward Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'alaa
Preparation The real preparation for Hajj starts
with the unwavering belief that you love
and fear Allah Subhaanahu Wa Ta'alaa
more than anything else,
and that you are ready
to respond to His call
to perform this duty
to show your obedience and
not for any other motive.
Sincerity
The sincerity of one's intention and faith
is reflected in one's actions.
Reflect on this question by Al-Ghazali Radi Allahu Anhu:
"Are you bound for the House of King of kings,
when you are neglecting His commands
here at home, belittling and ignoring it?"
(Al Ghazali, p.108)
Certainty
The coffin-ride is a certainty.
Where is the point in making careful
preparation for a doubtful journey,
while neglecting the matter for one
that is sure and certain?
(Al Ghazali, p.109)
Departure
The pilgrim should leave his home
in a state that not a single person
is upset with him, except, of course,
the devil that is angered by
his obedience to Allah The Merciful.

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam
Pilgrimage
The Hajj is a micro representation
of the entire universal experience
and man's unique position in it.
Islamic traditions trace its origins
to the appearance of man on earth.
Of all the pilgrimages of history,
only the Hajj has survived
with its essence intact.
Monasticism
Allah The merciful has favoured
this Community by making
the Pilgrimage its form of masticism.
(Al-Ghazali, p.105)
Collective worship
The Hajj is a unique form
of collective worship
by a community of believers.
They perform the rites collectively
with the same aim - to seek His mercy.
Hajj is different
Hajj is different from other obligatory duties
(daily prayers, zakaat and fasting) in that
it has to be performed at designated places
during a fixed period of time.
It is also different in that
it is obligatory only to those
who are able to make the journey.
Movement
The Hajj is a movement
in the direction of Allah The merciful.
The Ka'abah is not the destination;
it is the starting point of the pilgrim's promise
and commitment to cast away his bad ways
and begin afresh his new Allah-centered life.

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam
Direction
In Hajj, the pilgrim is continuously
in motion from one place to another
It is symbolic of our life,
which is in non-stop motion
toward death and the Hereafter
Reaffirmation
The Hajj is a journey of reflecion (of one's life up to now),
repentance (for one's sins up to now) and
reaffirmation (to return to The Straight Path ),
and the reward of this journey is after death.
Sole Purpose
In Hajj, the pilgrim is taken out
of his daily routine and put in
a desolate place to worship
Allah The Merciful
Not the Last Pillar
The Hajj is not the Last Pillar of Islam.
It is one of the five pillars
that adult Muslims must perform
as soon as they are able to do so.
Inward journey
The outward journey of Hajj
takes us from our homes
to the physical center of Islam.
The inward journey of Hajj
is to find our own center,
the Ka'bah of our heart and soul.
Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam
Hijrah
The hijrah was a turning point in the history of Islam
It represents sacrifice, renewal and purification.
The Hajj is the pilgrim's hijrah in
the direction of Allah The Merciful.
It should become a turning point in his life.
Love and obedience
The example of Ibrahim Alayhis Salaam
is reflected in the rites of Hajj.
Love and obedience were
the foundations of His faith:
unwavering love of Allah The Merciful
and unfailing obedience to Him.
This is also the Hajj message.
Good life
The Hajj is not at all about the Hereafter.
It is also about purifying oneself
to lead a good life here, as emphasized
in the Qur'anic du'a [Rabbanah]
that pilgrims recite in tawaaf.
Intention
Before entering Miqat, the pilgrim declares
his intention to perform the Hajj/Umrah.
It is a declaration of acceptance
of The Almighty's call to move away
from a life of negligence to one in which
his entire life will become a Hajj.
Guest
The pilgrim is a guest of The Almighty,
bound by the rules of His Sanctuary
This status is to remind the pilgrim that
he is a guest on earth bound by the rules
of its real Owner, Allah The Almighty.
Thinking that we own anything here
is an illusion and is the cause
of many of our problems. Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
ASALATU WASALAMU ALAYKA YA RASULLALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam
Best provision
The pilgrim is told to take the necessary
provisions for Hajj but he is reminded in
The Noble Qur'an that the best provision is
"right conduct." [2:97]. The forgiveness that
pilgrims seek from Him at Arafah
is for their failures to adhere
to right conduct in their daily lives.
Hereafter
Every aspect of the Hajj,
beginning from the pilgrim's decision
to undertake the journey
to his return from the Hajj,
reflects some aspect of the Hereafter.
The Command
Bowing and prostrating in prayer
promote humility to Allah The Merciful.
In the Hajj rites, there is nothing to suggest
any rational significance.
The sole inducement to perform them
is therefore the command itself.
(Al Ghazali, p.106)
Homage
The significance of certain Hajj rites
(like stoning and sa'ee)
is not easily grasped by the mind.
The pilgrims demonstrates through such
actions the demonstration of his hommage
and adoration of Allah The merciful.
(Al Ghazali, p.105-106)
The Essence
The performance of inexplicable duties
is a devotion most effective
in purifying the soul.
If you have grasped this,
then this much will suffice,
Inshah Allah, to impart an understanding
of the essence of the Pilgrimage.
(Al Ghazali, p.106)
