Salaam Alaykum, Actually the zuhr time in Minnesota(USA) is 1:15PM. In my college, the muslim students organize the jumma prayer at 2:00 PM. I want to know if our jumma is valid because according to fiqh of any school of islam, the jumma prayer must be held only at zuhr time. Jazakallah.

Bismillahir Rahmair Rahim. Wa' laykum-as-Salaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuhu, I presume that the beginning time of Zuhr is at 1:15p.m. which is similar to the Zuhr beginning time in England. However, one of the conditions of Jumm'ah salaah, is that it should be held at the time of Zuhr. This is perfectly o.k., as long as you do not go over the limit of the end of Zuhr praying time, and on the other hand, you do not pray too early so that your salaah, is on the time of zawaal, which is after the mid-day, when the sun is at its meridan, in the sky. It must be after zawaal time, and before 'Asr. Your time of praying Zuhr/Jumm'ah salaah at 2 p.m. is correct. That is the time people normally pray the Zuhr/Jumm'ah salaah, in congregation (jamaa'ah). I hope that all the brothers at college pray regularly, and are consistent in their prayers. You may make a prayer for me also! Please note that in summer, it is sunnah to keep the Zuhr cool, by reading it about an hour after beginning time, and to quicken it during winter, praying it close to the beginning time. I hope that the answers provided, do enable you to gain some form of flexibility, in and around your lesson times/break, so that you may not have to rush, or exceed the Jumm'ah/Zuhr salaah. Jazakallahu Khayrann, Wallahu a'lamu Biththawaab, M. Waseem Ashrafi
