Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Imam sahib,
Does one perform sajda sahv in the last rakah if he forgets to pray dua qunoot and do takbeer during the witr salah of Isha ?

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuPraise be to Allah who is the Lord of the worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon the Beloved Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam).Jazak'Allah for your question dear brother. When someone forgets to pray du'a-e-Qunoot, and forgets to say the takbir, and goes into the state of ruku', then he must stay in the state of ruku' and not return, as he will be sinful. He must finish his salah off by performing a compensatory prostration known as 'sajdah-e-sahw'. It must be remembered, that after the fatihah in the third rak'ah of witr salah, one must recite a surah, and du'a-e-Qunut, before going into ruku'. Similarly one must not forget to recite the fatihah also, as this is compulsory. He must then finish off by reciting a surah, followed by a takbir, and then du'a-e-Qunoot. If one does not know the du'a-e-Qunut, one may recite the du'a: 'rabbana atina fid dunya hasanataw wa fil akhirati hasanataw waqina adhaban nar'.Similarly, if one does not know the above du'a, he may recite: 'allahumagh fir lana', three times, and that will suffice for his du'a-e-Qunut. May Allah keep all our brothers and sisters firm on everyday salah, and may He give us the opportunity in executing the salah in its proper manner. (Amin).Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
