Assalemolikum
My intention for Magrib was 3 rakats. However, later I realized I had prayed 4 rakats and not 3 rakats. Am I supposed to offer Magrib Salat again with only 3 Rakats or is the one I made with 4 acceptable?
Thank you.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa SallamJazak'allah for your question. Where a person offers Maghrib prayer, and by accident, instead of praying three rak'ahs (cycles), he makes four rak'ahs, then it is necessary for him to repeat the salaah, as the number of rak'ahs for Maghrib has been exceeded. This only applies to Maghrib, where an addition of one rak'ah is made. Wallahu A'almu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
