Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Dear Imaam Sir,
I have 2 queries about Fardh Salaat.
When there is a Jamaat (more than 1), the Imaam recites surahs out loud in the Salaat, and the others follow behind him.
My 1st query is: If a person is praying all by himself (alone), does he recite surahs out loud in Fardh Salaat? Or does he recite it softly (in his mind), like the way in which someone prays Sunnat or Nafil Salaat?
My 2nd query is related to the above: In the situation that a person is praying his Fardh Salaat softly (in his mind) and half-way through someone comes in and joins, does he continue to recite softly or does he start to recite it out loud (taking the position as an Imaam) as if he's leading the prayer?
Any references provided would be great.
Jazzak Allah Khairan for your response.
Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam With reference to your first question, there is no reciting out aloud in the fard salah when you are praying alone, as you are not in Jama'ah [congregation]. Nor is it permissible to recite out loud whilst you are alone. This is what has been stated in most books of Hanafi fiqh [jurisprudence].If a person is praying salah on his own, and someone walks in, and joins in, then according to Imam Abu Hanifah Radi Allahu anhu, this will not validate his salah, simply because he intended his salah on his own first, so he must complete it on its own, and secondly because there must be two people or more for a jama'ah to take place. (These and more answers can be found in most fiqh books).Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
