Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Ok this might be a bit of a silly question, if so sorry.
I've been told that when you fold the prayer mat you shouldn't do it from top to bottom but instead from side to side (if you do it from top to bottom the place where you put your feet and rest your head meet)
It kind of makes sense but through force of habit I always fold it the top to bottom way. Also we wash our feet through wudu anyway so it shouldn't be dirty.
I was just wondering if this is actually written somewhere, as it was only told to me and not backed up by saying where or who said it should be done like this.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa SallamJazak'allah for your question. You are quiet right. It doesnt say anywhere that you should fold your prayer mat from side to side. Nor does it say that you should fold it from top to bottom. Anyone who does ask for it's proof would seem a bit absurd, as he would then require proof for even breathing! The main thing is to put the prayer mat in it's correct use, and that is to perform the salaah five times a day, in the prescribed manner. Once this is done, it wont really matter whether anyone fusses over the folding of the prayer mat, as this would now be irrelevant. May Allah the Almighty give us all the tawfiq to be firm upon the five time prayer. (Amin)Wallahu A'almu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
