AsallamWalikum brothers and sisters, if a male and a female accepts to take each other as their life partner, making Allah the witness Saying all the things that they are suppose to during a Nikah. does it counts as Nikah. or Is it necessary for other human beings to witness it and an Imam to be present inorder for it to be accepted as nikah? i will appreciate if you answer it. Thanks

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam If a person and their partner are alone, although they take each other to be their life partner, say everything they are supposed to at a nikah, and make Allah the Almighty their witness, then this will not constitute as a nikah, for in a nikah there must be at least two men witnesses present, or one man and two women witnesses. They all must be adults, sane, intellects, and they must have all heard the words of the nikah. (witness). It is not necessary that an imam be present, as someone who asks the question (iyjab), and answers the question (qubul), must conduct this, which is a integral part (rukn) of the nikah. All other acts such as announcing it, khutbah, being in a masjid, being a Friday, are the mustahib (desirable) acts. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
