asalam-o alikum,
There is a halal take away near me that sells the usual foods, but recently he has added things like sausage, it is halal of course. But why do we need to imitate the kafir especially with haram things like swine, what do you say about this and about burgers and pizzas these have also been copied. There is already a good variety of halal foods, so is it permissable to eat these things.

Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim Wa’laykum 'as-Salaam, Imitating the kuffaar with what is known as halaal food is one of the worst wraths of Allah the Almighty. First of all, it is the Most Beloved Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon Him) that we should imitate, when it comes to that and not the kuffaar. What was the beloved Messenger's (peace be upon Him) diet. We have recordings of a sweet beverage, made from a parched barley meal, also known as ‘sattu’. Roasted meat, but only when it was available at the time. Not that it was out of the reach of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon Him), but rather, he admired being simple. A form of turnip, which is cooked in soup, also known as ‘kaddu’, which was searched out by Him (peace be upon Him) in the plate that was placed in front of Him. Dates, dried bread (roti), and water consisted of His diet, and sometimes not even belly-full for less than three days! So where does this leave our imitation? At the take-away, with halaal sausages and doner kebabs? Or at home, with the family having traditional food like meat curry, roti and water. Although we may not know it, but the latter, is more closer to the Sunnah than the former! Wallaho a’lamo bithhawaab M. Waseem Ashrafi
