Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu Praise be to Allah the Lord of the Worlds, and may He shower Endless Blessings, on our Final Messenger, the Prophet Muhammad (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam)Zabeha which is prepared by non-Muslims is permissable to eat, as long as it has the name of Allah i.e. Bismillahi Allahu Akbar recited upon it, at the time of zabha. If it does not have the name of Allah recited upon it at the time of zabha, or it is slaughtered in a non shar'i manner, then the eating of that meat will be prohibited (haram). By preparation we can mean zabha, or we can mean that it is a zabeha of the Muslims, yet prepared by the non-Muslims. In the first case, any zabeha made by the Ahl-al-Kitab (people of the book) is valid. The people of the book are those people who believe in the original revelations that were brought down by the Prophets. For example Hadrat Isa Alayhis Salams 'injil', known as the bible, or the torah of Hadrat Musa Alayhis Salam. One thing that we have identified, is that all those religions that claim to be the followers of one Prophet or another, have believed in their revelations, yet have either distorted, changed, or have ammended the original texts that once existed. This has led to none of the followers of a particular faith, conforming to the original word of God, therefore being ousted from the domains of Ahl-al-Kitab. Today, i dont think there is a single Jew, Christian, or follower of Moses, who believes, or reads, or practices, what was once the original torah or bible. Therefore, it is perfectly viable, to say that such persons are not of the Ahl-al-Kitab, because their 'kitab' has been tampered with, nor is the meat that is prepared by them, in terms of zabeha halal. However, if the meat is made halal by a Muslim who has recited the name of Allah upon it, and is further given for preparation to a non-Muslim for example a prison, then it is permissable to eat, because it is halal, and that it has not been zabeha'd by a non Ahl-al-Kitab. I hope the issue concerning zabeha in terms of slaughtering the animal in Allah's name, and having it prepared and slaughtered by a Muslim and non-Muslim has been made clear to you.
