Salaam, I want to write a book about the Muslim experience in America, but I want it to be a novel for Muslim teens. I was wondering if it is haram to write a fiction novel? The content and moral of my novel are going to be Islamic and while some characters might drift away from Islamic values in the story, in the end they will all come to learn important Islamic values. Is it still haram to write fiction novels if the moral is Islamic and it will speak to many struggling Muslim adolescent throughout America?

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam No, it is not haram for you to write fiction novels, particularly if the moral is Islamic, and as you say if it speaks to many Muslim adolescent throughout America. However, the content maybe an issue, in that it should not create a negative image of the religion of Islam, nor should it demean it, denounce it, dihonour or disrespect it, or of any of it's personalities. It should however highlight some of it's personalities, it's characterisics, attributes, and other qualities, so that no form of negatvity is portrayed therein. Jazak'allah for your question.
