Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa SallamJazak'Allah for your valued question. The world is a place of opportunities and prosperity. Despite this, one must be careful that he does not transcend the limits of the shar'iyyah, whilst being engaged in such worldly matters. It is a common factor which is becoming more and more of a concern for the Muslim Ummah, in this day and age. People are so engaged in their careers, and in thier domestic lives, that in the end, they have very little to offer, to the Almighty Creator, in terms of fulfilling the obligations which he has set us. Similar is the case of Jilani Miah, who once was engaged in his activities in relation to the propagation of Islam, with his organisations that he had created in relation to Sufism, and then an organisation known as the 'Spiritual Foundation'. This was the same 'Spiritual Foundation' that paved the way into creating a 'Foundation for Unity of Religions and Enlightened Citizenship', in short, known as FUREC.FUREC had created it's own constitution, in which certain articles were disagreeable with from an Islamic prospective. For example, the Unity of Religions, the Respect of Religions, and the Acceptance of Religions. It was due to these articles, and due to an explanation required by Jilani Miah, in relation to the explanation of these articles, that due to a passage of time, in which Jilani Miah had been given a time limit, that he failed to comply with the necessary questions, in relation to this, that further action had been taken, which led to what you have heard today. It must be remembered that Islam, is a religion, that will live by all other religions, yet will never compromise with any other religion, in relation to it's teachings, towards it's practices, or it's customs. Those persons who have tried to compromise their religion with other religions have been taken note of in history, yet they have never succeeded, as was the case when the partition of India had taken place. History will tell you that although people like Muhammad 'Ali Jawhar and Mawlana Shawkat 'Ali, who were the leaders of a movement known as the Khilafat Movement, this had nevertheless been taken over by Ghandi, who was still a Hindu leader. Could the Muslims then sacrifice their feelings and devotions towards someone who had become their leader, yet was a contemporary of theirs in terms of religion? This is the point that I have made above. If in the past, no Sunni sahih-ul-'aqidah Muslim has ever compromised with a non-Muslim, or even if they had, it proved that they were unsuccessful in the eyes of the Ahl as-Sunnah w'al Jama'ah, then why is it necessary for a Muslim Scholar, to invite all those non-Muslims in a multi religious place like India, and be ready to compromise with them? Indeed if such is the case, then out of the devotees of religion of Islam, whoso ever requires an explanation has the right to identify, to what limits one has transcended. If not, then one does have the character, or the intention to rectify the situation, provided that time didnt overcome the limits that were set. Although I have read the book called Sahifa-e-Hidayah, by His Eminence Hadrat Shaykh al-Islam wa' Muslimeen Sayyad Muhammad Madani Ashrafi al Jilani Damat Barkatuhum Aliyya, nevertheless, I am quiet content in saying that once the limits had been complied with by Jilani Miah in answering the questions that had been posed to him, it would have been ideal for him to comply with what had been required. It was the non-compliance of Jilani Miah which had taken its toll, given the time limit that was exceeded, that led to a non compliance. May Allah the Almighty give us all the tawfiq to comply with the religions' terms and conditions, and may He prevent us from compromising our religion in receipt of the respect and acceptance of any other religion.Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM.
