Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Some years back when i was learning Arabic at the institution someone pointed out that our Beloved and respected Mujadid of the century Imam Ahmed Raza khan Rehmatullahi ’Alaih actually went to the same madrassa as gustakh-e-Rasool Ashraf Ali Thanvi and after their education they went their "seperate ways" i.e Imam Ahmed Raza khan Rehmatullahi ’Alaih brought us the truth whilst gustakh-e-Rasool Ashraf Ali Thanvi brought new doctrines into Islam. Is this true Imam Saab? can you shed any light on this for me please?
jazakallah khair

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa SallamJazak'allah for your question. Mujaddid al A'zam Shah Imam Ahmad Rida Khan Rehmatullahi ta'ala ’Alaih, had first acquired his knowledge from his noble father. This consisted of the memoration ( hifz) of the Qur'an, and the beginning books of the 'dars-e-Nizami'. He further went to study to a person called 'Mawlana Mirza Ghulam Qadir Bayg', who in no way should be mistaken with the person 'Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiyani', to whom most cotemporaries (mukhalifin) of Imam Ahmad Rida Barelvi Rehmatullahi ’Alaih, believe to be. He further enhanced his spiritual studies with Shah Ale Rasul Marehrawi, Mawlana Muhammad Naqi 'Ali Khan, Shaykh Ahmad Bin Zayn Dahlan Makki, Shaykh Abdur Rahman Makki, Shaykh Hussayn Bin Saleh, and Shah Abul Husayn Ahmad an Nuri Rehmatullahi ’Alaihim ajma'in. No where is it mentioned that Mujaddid al A'zam Shah Imam Ahmad Rida Khan Rehmatullahi ta'ala ’Alaih had studied in ''darul ulum deoband'' with ''Ashraf 'Ali Thanvi''. Nor was he ever taught by the people who taught ''Ashraf 'Ali Thanvi'', and nor was he ever affiliated to the ''darul 'Ulum deoband''. May Allah the Almighty help us to preserve the truth in relation to our Imam, and may He correct all those who have false thoughts in relation to the Great Scholars of the Ahl as-Sunnah wal Jama'ah. (Amin)Wallahu AA'lamu Biththawaab M. Waseem Ashrafi
