Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam Jazak'allah for your question. Hadrat Sa'ad bin Abi Waqqas Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu was a famous commander and Companion [sahaba] of the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam. He is also one of the ten most promised companions, who are destined paradise ['Ashra Mubashirah]. His name is Sa'ad and title is Abu Ishaq. He was also the maternal uncle of the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam. This one of the reasons why Hadrat Sa'ad Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu would sometimes be simply referred to as uncle by the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam. Hadrat Sa'ad Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu became a muslim and embraced Islam at the very beginning of its formation, and was one of the first to do so. Some scholars say he was the fourth person to become muslim, whilst others say he was the sixth. One thing we do know that he was only seventeen years of age when he embraced Islam. Not only did he participate in all the battles, but he was also involved in all the battles which took place between Islam and the kuffaar. Hadrat Sa'ad bin Abi Waqqas Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu passed away in the year 50 After Hijri, around the age of 70 and was buried in Madinah t'ul Munnawarah at the cemetry of Jannat'al Baqi.
