Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim,
Wa' Laykum-as-Salaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuhu.
Thankyou for your question relating to sajdah-e-Tilaawat. The correct way of performing sajdah-e-tilaawat, is to perform the Sajdah, whilst one has finished praying the Ruku' of the Surah, or after they have finished praying the Surah, there is not much difference.
However, it must be performed as the aayah is recited or it is heard, because it then becomes waajib.
Its sunnah method is to stand up, and as you are sayig Allah-o-Akbar, go into prostration (sajdah), and say subhaana Rabbiyal A'laa three times, and then saying Allaho Akbar, one stood stand which is the final position.
It is sunnah to say Allaho Akbar before and after the prostration, and both the stances, before going into sajdah, and after going into sajdah are both sunnat. If one does not stand before, or after the sajdah-e-tilaawah, or does not say Allaho-akbar, or does not say subhaana Rabbiyyal A'laa, then the sajdah will still be performed, but the takbir should not be left out, as this will contravene the salaf.
There is no lifting of the hands at the beginning, when Allaho Akbar is said, nor is their a sitting (tashahhud), nor is there any salaam.
Within the whole of the Qur'an there are fourteen aayahs of sajdah, whoever recites them, or listens to them, regardless of having the intention of listening or not, the prostration (sajdah)of the surah/aayah will become necessary (waajib).
Jazaakallah humul khayr, Wallaho a'lamu Biththawaab.
