Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Imam Sahib, as you know there have been a lot of calamities (tsunami, earthquake, civil wars) on Muslims in this world. I am of the frim belief that this is as a result of punishment from Almighty Allah for our wrongdoings.
But could you explain this Surah and how it lies within the context.
For example, in surah Bani Israel (17:15), God Almighty says:
“And, We would never chastise [any community for the wrong they may do] ere We have sent an apostle [to them].”
And also Surah al-Qasas (28:59) where it is declared:
“Yet, withal, thy Sustainer would never destroy a community without having [first] raised in its midst an apostle who would convey unto them Our messages; and never would We destroy a community unless its people are wont to do wrong [to one another].”
JAZAKALLAH FOR YOUR TIME.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,Praise be to Allah the Almighty, who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon Our Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam)Jazak'Allah for your question brother. Insha'Allah I will try to answer it as best as I can. The verse of the Surah Bani Isra'il, that you have quoted is thus: 'Wa ma kunna mu'adh'dhibina hatta nab'atha rasula'
'And we do not torment until we have sent our messenger.' From this we learn that Divine Punishment does not come merely by disobeying Allah the Almighty, but due to the disobedience of the beloved Messenger of Allah ( Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) as well. The Pharoah had claimed Divinity, had eighty thousand small babies killed, yet punishment only came to him when Hadrat Musa ( Alayhi 'Asalam), made his curse towards him. Hadrat Mawlana Rume ( Rehmatullahi ’Alaih) says: 'Allah the Almighty does nat put to shame any people, until they disrespect a pious sage' (Nur ul-Irfan, ala Kanzul Iman, Ahmad Yar Khan Na'imi ( Rehmatullahi ’Alaih) From this, we learn that even to disrespect a Prophet can entail in the punishment of Allah the Almighty. May Allah the Almighty forgive us for any mistakes that we make, and may He prevent us from being dishonourable towards any of His Prophets and Servants.Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
