Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa SallamJazak'allah for your question regarding sajdah. If you do not perform the sajdah intentionally then in answer to your question, yes, it can become a sin. However if you forget to perform them, then this an exception. It must be remembered that the sajdah-e-tilawat is Wajib to perform upon hearing or reciting the Qur'an al kareem, therefore, to neglect it would be a sin. Always remember that a du'a is always between a seeker, and the Creator. You may use whatever language you like, in asking Allah the Almighty, in whatever words, to forgive your father, to guide him, to keep him firm on the path of Islam, and for a good hereafter, and also for you to serve him (if he is alive). The salah, is also a du'a. In it we pray : 'Rabij'alni muqimas salati wa min dhurriyati rabbana wa taqabbal du'a rabbangh firli wali walidayya wa lil mu'minina yawma yaqumul hisab'This du'a or part of it relating to the forgiveness of parents, also appears in the Qur'an al kareem. It has great merits. It can be recited after salah, in a du'a, or out of du'a as many times as you like. It is very powerful, and Allah the Almighty will Insha'Allah accept it. Another du'a that can be recited is: 'Allahumma rabbir ham huma kama rabbayani saghira' This also appears in the Qur'an al kareem, and also is very powerful. Normally both these du'as are read after salah. May Allah the Almighty help us to supplicate for all our parents, after every salah, and may He make us firm upon it. (Amin)Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
