Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
dear imam i would like to know if it is necessary to cover the head when you hear the azan as when i am home i don't wear a scarf unless we have guests. also should one stop everything they are doing when they hear the azan i.e. talking, eating or feeding children, cooking...
Jazakallah Khair
i hope Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala increases your knowledge daily so you may help those like myself who lack in even the basic knowledge of Islam. Ameen.
Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam Not a problem sister Fatimah. Although you should have your head covered all the time, nevertheless if it does get uncovered, so long as there is no visitor in your house, then that is fine. If the adhan sounds, and you have nothing on your head, then it is good to cover your head. There is no hard and fast rule for this issue. In relation to hearing the adhan when one is talking, then he should stop talking, and listen and respond to the call for prayer. This also applies to performing wudhu', reciting the Qur'an, and also delaying in performing nafil salah. Again there is no hard and fast rule when it comes to feeding children and cooking, although it would be a plus, if you did. Jazak'allah for your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
