Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
in guarati culture we have a stage a day before the wedding day that the boy and girl getting married have a turmeric powder mixed with water (peethi) is rubbed into the face, arms and feet. this is done by the bhabis or aunty's. i originally thought that this was a hindu tradition as they also do this. could you please clarify this query. as i thought that the boy would be a ghair mahram for the women.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam You are quiet correct. The boy would be a ghayr maharam for the women, and this is definitely not an Islamic tradition. Anything that is not an Islamic tradition, should be avoided. Jazak'allah for your question.
