Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Imam saheb,
Is there any other prescribed day when one can cut their finger and toe nails besides the sunnah of Juma ?
Is their also anything specific we should pray before during or after this ?
Jazakallah for your guidance

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu, All Praise be to Allah, who is the Master of All the worlds, and numerous blessings be upon the Last Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam.Toe nails, and finger nails can be cut whenever the need arises. There are no hard and fast rules, which specify, that your finger and toe-nails, should be cut on a particular day. However, being from the Ahl as-Sunnah wal Jama'ah, we place grave importance on the way of the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam. Therefore, it is classed as 'mustahib', which is also a type of 'sunnah', that on the days of the two Eids (eidayn), and on the day of 'Arafah', on Fridays, and on Mondays, it is praiseworthy, that one performs ghusl. On these days, one may find it also praiseworthy ('mustahib'), to trim the moustache, to remove excess hairs of the body, to wear perfume, and to wear clean clothes. In addition to this, it is also praiseworthy, to clip the nails, whether they be the nails of the feet, or the nails of the hands. The correct way to clip the nails of the hands and feet, is to begin with the index finger, of the right hand. Next, it will be the turn of the middle finger, then the third, and finally, the smallest finger. When you complete cutting the nails of your right hand, you will have missed your thumb. Leave this till the last. Continue on the smallest finger, of your left hand, and work up to the largest finger, then the index finger, and then your thumb. The nail on the thumb on your right hand should remain uncut, which should be cut last. This is the 'Sunnah' way of cutting/trimming the nails. The same procedure should also be applied to the nails of the feet. Once your nails are cut, then the nails should be disposed of somewhere safe, if they cannot be buried. Women should also cut their nails, and should prevent themselves from growing long nails, as there is no proof from the Qur'an-e-Paak, or the Sunnah that states that growing long nails is permissable. There is however no specific 'du'a, which can be recited when cutting your nails, but saying the 'Bismillah', will count as this, and will carry many benefits, and reward. May Allah the Almighty keep us all firm on the Path of the Messenger (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam), and may He make us realise the imporatance of the role of their lives, in our lives today.Wallahu A'lamu Biththawaab M. Waseem Ashrafi
