Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,All Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Final Messenger Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa aalihi wa Sallam)Jazak'Allah for your valued question. Dear Sister it is haram to carry a donor card, as when you die, 'they' will donate your parts to another person. The Most Beloved Messenger of Allah ( Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa aalihi wa Sallam) has said in a hadith that: 'Your blood, your wealth, and honour are dignified upon one another just as this day has its dignity'. (Bukhari Sahreef) This means that even the blood of a Muslim carries dignity, and that it cannot be given to another. It is however permissable to give blood to a close one, who is in fear of death, that if the blood is not given to him, then one may die. But this does not mean that you may give your blood freely to whom you wish, and when you wish. If a person is so ill, that it is a matter of life and death, that he cannot live unless he recieves the quantity of blood required to keep him alive, then the shar'iyyah does create an exception for such people to take blood, but only that which is necessary, and no more. I hope that from the above hadith, it is now clear why Muslims do not donate their body parts, or blood, as and when they wish.Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
