Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah the Almighty who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa SallamJazak'allah for your question. I hope you are in the best of health too. In relation to your question, then the saying of our Most Beloved Messenger Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam should be taken into account: 'La tadkhul lul mala'ikatu baytann fihi suratunn' and: 'La tadkhulul mala'ikatu baytann fihi kalbaww wa laa tasawiru' This means that the angels of mercy ( rahmah) do not enter into that house in which there is the picture (whether the photo or the painting/drawing). In the second hadith there is the addition of a dog. Meaning that the angels do not enter into that house in which lies the picture of a person (photo), or the dog. To keep the blessing of Almighty Allah in our homes via his angels, we should try to put our pictures away, and not keep dogs as pets in the home, as they keep blessings away. However, there is permissability of keeping a dog for the purpose of protection, or a hunting dog, or where a person is blind. Not for any other reason. I hope the above ahadith have answered your question. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
