Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
Dear Imam
A Wahabbi friend was referred to the following Sunni site.
He objected to the following Hadeeths mentioned under the link "FORTY HADITHS ON THE MERIT OF SAYING LA ILAHA ILLALLAH"
Kindly explain ..
Hadeeth 7. This is confirmed by another well-known hadith whereby the Prophet -- Allah bless and greet him -- said: "My intercession is for those people of my Community who commit major sins." Narrated by Tirmidhi, Qiyama 11; Abu Dawud, Sunna 31; Ibn Maja, Zuhd 37; and Ahmad 3:213.
Looking forward to yor reply.
Allah Hafiz

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Rahim Wa'alykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu, Jazaakallah for your query, however I need to know, what it was that he said regarding the Hadith. Was it regarding the Hadith 'Laa ilaaha', or was it the Hadith regarding the Intercession ? After all there is no misconception regarding either ahaadith, as there are numerous commentarys on this, non of which are subject to criticism. Please forward (with reference if necessary) Jazaakallah M Waseem Ashrafi

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
The misconception is about "Major sins". He says why Huzoor Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam should intercede for major sinners and if he is going to intercede why we should lead a life of "Taqwa" As much as we sin .. He will intercede for us....
Also Hazrat I would appreciate if you could answer my other query regarding "Answering Wahabbis"

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim.
Wa'laykum-salaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuhu,
I am sorry in replying to this question after such a while.
The Hadith Sharif in Jame'ah Tirmidhi Sharif, named under the Baab 'Ma Jaa'a fi ash-Shifaa'ati'-'what has been said in relation to intercession', and is the second Hadith in the Baab, and is approximately the 2251th Hadith which states:
"'an anasinn qaala qaala Rasulullahi sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallama Shafaa'ati li ahl-al-kabaa'iri min ummati".
"Hadrat Anas (may Allah be pleased with Him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon Him) had said that 'I will intercede for my community of those who have committed major sin" This Hadith is Hasan Sahih.
The hadith clearly specifies that it will be our Messenger, the Prophet Muhammd (peace be upon Him) who will intercede. What will He interced for? Then it clearly states that he will interced for all those people who have committed the major sins. This means that anyone who has committed major sin in their lives, yet still carries the faith (imaan) shall be interceded for by the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon Him).
Also, Hadith number 2252, which is narrated by Jaabir-ibn-'Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with Him) in which the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon Him) has stated that ' It is I who will intercede for my community who has committed major sin'.
This Hadith is gharib, but that is its classification, and not its importance. The importance of a hadith is fundamental in Islam regardless of it being gharib etc. After the Qur'an, the Hadith is next in position, and it is not for the Muslims to deny (inkaar) a hadith, which may lead to kufr.
There are other ahaadith of this nature, but I have only presented two. The commentary states that 'intercession' is of six types:
1) Shifaa'at-e-Uzma, which is specifically intended for the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon Him), after the denial of intercession from other Prophets. This is clearly stated in the ahaadith.
2) For the entry into paradise.
3)Intercession for all those upon whom hellfire has been made incumbent.
4) All those who have surpassed the punishment of hell will also be interceded for. This will include the angels, the prophets, and also the faithful (mu'minin).
5) Intercession (shifaa'at) for raising of ranks.
6) Intercession for the uncle of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon Him), Abu-Taalib, from which relief will be given.
These are some of the types of Intercession (shifaa'at), in which the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon Him) shall have authorisation.
I hope this answers your query, and once again I am sory for the delay in posting your message.
May Allah the Almighty, accept the intercession of our Messenger (peace be upon Him), and may He grant Him Eternal Bliss.
wallaho a'lamu biththawaab,
M. Waseem Ashrafi.
