asalam aleikum,
There is a posting in this messageboard regarding some punishments ... a brother [ashraf79] has asked for some details. The refernce is from Bukhari Sharif and Muslim Sharif.
Quote:As for one of them; he used to carry tales. As for the other, he never guarded himself from his urine. You dont get to hear much about this major sin, anyone shed some more light on what exactly is this reference to urine ? I can think of the obvious but it's not something ive come across before.
Can you enlighten us please.

Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim,
Wa’laykum-as-Salaam wa Rahmatullahi-wa-Barakaatuhu,
Wudhu’ is a fard act for all forms of worship. Yet there are many impurities which can come into contact with the outer appearance of the body and clothing which can negate wudhu’.
Impurities are of two kinds ; ghalizah, and khafifah. If the impurity called ‘ghalizah’ comes into contact with the body or clothing, then it is obligatory (fard), to clean this if it is more than the size of a dirham coin. If it is not cleared and one prays his salaat, then his salaat will be invalid. If it is the size of a dirham coin, then to clean it is necessary (wajib), because if he prayed salaat and realized afterwards then it is necessary for him to repeat his salaat (waajib-ul-I’aadha), and if it is less than a dirham coin, then to clean it is Sunnah, as if he prays salaat, it may count, yet it will be an act in opposition to the Sunnah, the repeat of which shall be better.
The things which are included in the ‘ghalizah’ category are all those things which are emerge from the body, for example, excretion, urine, the flow of blood, pus, a mouthful of vomit, period blood (for women), etc. ( qanun-e-shar’iyyat with refernce from ‘aalamghiri;)
‘thumma ma la yakunu hadithann la yakunu najisann yarwa dhalika ‘an abi Yusuf wa huwass sahihi…’(hidaayah)-kitabut-tahaarah:
‘The thing which does not negate wudhu’, then that is not impure, this is how it is narrated from Imam abu Yusuf, and this is the correct position…’
Therefore, to guard against urine is to stay in the state of purity so long as all the conditions of being a Muslim are present. The way to stay pure is to sit when going for the call of nature, whether it is for urine, as well as excretion. To force down on the left leg, while in the sitting position, so that all the droplets of urine are expelled. To wash the part from where the impurity has expelled, with either stones and/or water. To dry any washing of the part from where any impurity has expelled, so that there is no mixing between the droplets of urine, and the water, with which that part is washed. To stay clear from the flushes of Asian toilets, and to keep pure clothes away from such flushes which in modern times, may cause the splashes of toilet water mixed with urine in the process of flushing.
These are some of the points, by which if precaution is taken, then one may be guarded against the punishment of not guarding against urine. May Allah the Almighty guard us all, from every error, be it large or small…
Wallaho a’lamu biththawaab
