Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
What if someone passes on, but that person was religious and pious, stayed up all night praying tahajud etc., and never had a sheikh? How far could have tht person gone in the spiritual world witout a guide..

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa SallamJazak'allah for your question. Having a shaykh is to prosper in tariqah, which is the way, as opposed to shar'iyyah, which is also a way. It is a sunnah of the noble Companions of the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam, to be shown the way in the form of a tariqah, that is why we have shaykhs, until this day. The accepting of ones ' ibadah is solely for Allah the Almighty to do. If He wills He will accept, and if He wills He will reject, this is regardless of whether you have a shaykh or not. However, one thing that is beneficial of having a shaykh, is that on the Day of Judgement ( Qiyamah), you will be with that shaykh, under his banner, and if you do not have enough rights, or too many wrongs, your shaykh will intercede for you, as long as your shaykh is a 'true shaykh.' A person who has no shaykh, has no connection to all those pious personalities of Islam, which descended from the Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam. He will be unable to climb any ladder, and reach any such status, rank or position, which he may claim that he has. He will be cut off from the blessings of those personalities of Islam, because he had not sworn the 'oath of allegiance' to a guide, who would rightfully guide him. Nor will he ever have their protection, favour, or help, which he claims to have. May Allah the Almighty prevent us all from false claims, and may He put us in the hands of the rightfully guided ones. (Amin)Wallahu Alamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
