Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam Jazak'allah for your question regarding 'Qalbun saleema' - in the Qur'an al karim it is written : 'But he who comes before Allah with a sound heart'
[ash-Shura', 36;89] This is the brief translation of the verse that you have enquired about. Mufti Ahmad Yar Khan Na'imi Rehmatullahi ’Alaih, a Sufi scholar from the subcontinent, writes in his commentary of the Qur'an, in relation to the above verse: 'This means that anyone who comes into the presence of Allah the Almighty with a sincere heart, his wealth will be beneficial to him, as well as his children. By sincere heart, it is meant to safegard the heart from defective beliefs. According to the Sufis, a perfect heart is that which has been bitten by a snake of love and passion for Allah the Almighty. In Arabic, the word 'saleem' indicates one bitten by a snake.' In summary, sincerity in worship, in the rights of other people, particularly parents and children, and close relatives, freedom from pride, from fame, from ignorance of knowledge, from lying, backbiting, and cheating, and engaging oneself in mujahidah, riyadah, sakhah, jud, rida, wara, ata, and ibadah with khulus (sincerity), alongwith His dhikr, is what makes a sound heart, known as 'qalbun salim'.
