Brother i am most surprised by your question. However for a comprehensive reply please visit the 'Discuss Islam board' PAGE NO.9 and read the thread 'ARE SAYYADS THE PROGENY OF RASULLALLAH (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) especially the post by 'Sweet Madina', which hopefully will remove your doubts.
Subhaan Allah, I would request the web team to re-ignite this thread so it may re-ignite our Iman.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon Our Master the Most Beloved Messenger of Allah, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa ( Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam). Jazak'Allah for your question dear brother. Any person who questions 'whether Hadrat 'Ali is a Sayyad' is basically misguided. Hope you understand this, so there is no misunderstanding from the person who posed this question. Of course Hadrat 'Ali Karam Allahu wajahu was a Sayyad, they came from the same ennobled forefathers, family, clan, tribe, and nation. Does such a person disregard the direct cousin, and the son-in-law of the Master of Both worlds ( Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam), and Our Master Hadrat Ali ( Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu), to be ousted from the family of the Messenger of Allah ( Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam)? If he doesnt, then what posessed him to ask such a question. My advice is that before anyone asks such questions, that they at least study, or attempt to make a study of the 'Amir-ul-Mu'minin, the Lion of Allah, the Part of the Messenger of Allah, the Victor of Khyber, and the Part of the ahl al-Bay'ah, ( Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu) May Allah the Almighty, forgive the questioner for his confusion, and may He help us to make him understand the 'Greats of All Time'. May Allah give us all the hidaya, of being truthful and sincere, and may He erase any doubts that we may have.M. Waseem Ashrafi
