Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuPraise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam)Jazak-Allah for your question. I would also like to thank brother Sunni, who supportingly answered the question, in relation to seeking help from other than Allah the Almighty. In addition to the said quotations, the following may also be useful. The Qur'an al kareem states:
'Wad'u shuhada'akum min dunillahi in kuntum sadiqin'
'And call for all your helpers, other than Allah the Almighty, if you are truthful'
(al Baqarah, 23)
In this verse, the kuffar were invited to bring a single verse in competition with the Qur'an, and were told to bring to their help, their helpers, thus granting the permission in asking for help other than Allah the Almighty. The Qur'an al kareem further stated:
'Qala man ansari ilallahi Qalal hawariyyuna nahnu ansarullahi'
'He said who will be my helpers in the way of Allah? The desciples replied, we will be the helpers of the religion of Allah'
(Al Imran; 52)
In this verse it is stated that Hadrat Isa
(alayhis 'salam) said to his desciples, who will be my helper, The Hadrat Masih sought help from other than Allah. The Qur'an al kareem also states:
'Wa ta'awanu 'alal birri wat taqwa wa la ta'awanu 'alal ithmi wal udwan.'
'And help each other in righteousness and in piety, and help not one another in sin and trangression.'
(al Ma'idah, 2)
This verse clearly states that the believers should help one another. Also:
'In tansur ullaha yansur kum'
'If you help the religion of Allah, He will help you'
(Muhammad: 7)
In this special verse, Allah the Almighty who is the Most Rich (Ghani), as asked for help from His serveants. On the Day of Miythaq, Allah the Almighty took an oath from the souls of the Prophets, in relation to His Beloved Messenger
(Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam).
'Li tu'minunna bi hi wa la tansurunna hu'
'That you may believe in them, and you may help them.'
(Al Imran; 81)
It seems as though the oath for the help of His serveants, has existed since the Day of Miythaq.
And:
'Was ta'inu bis sabri was salaah'
'And seek help with patience, and salaah'.
(Baqarah: 45)
In this verse, the Believers have been commanded to seek help through patience and salaah. Patience, and salaah, happen to be 'other than Allah'.
Not forgetting:
'Wa a'inuni bi quwwatinn'
'And be my help, with force'
(Kahf: 95)
From this we find that Hadrat Dhul Qarnayn
(Radi Allahu anhu) sought help from the people while hardening the wall. Allah the Almighty also says:
'Ayyada ka bi nasri hi wa bil mu'minin'.
'It is he who gave you strenghth with his help, and the believers'
(al Infal :62)
He says:
'Ya ayyu han nabiyyu hasbu kallahu wa manit taba'aka minal mu'minin'
'Oh Messenger The Communicator of hidden news! Allah is sufficient for you, and for such believers who follow you'.
(al Infal; 64)
He says:
'Fa in Allaha huwa Mawla hu wa Jibrilu wa Sali hul Mu'minina wal mala'ikatu ba'da dhali ka zahira'
'Then undoubtedly Allah is his helper, and Jibrael and the righteous believers, and furthermore the Angels, are His helpers.'
(at Tahrim; 66: 4)
He states:
'Inama waliyyu kum ullahu wa rasulu hu wal mu'minin alladhina yu'tuna zakata wa hum raki'un'
'Only Allah is your helper, and His Messengers and the believers, that they establish prayer and pay zakaah, and bow down before Allah.'
(al Ma'idah: 55)
These are just a few of the verses, which support the fact that not only can Muslims seek help in other than Allah, but also that Allah has also asked for help from His Messengers, and the Muslims, which is clear, in the meanings of the above verses. Further evidence from the Qur'an al kareem, ahaadith, and sayings of the predecessors could also have been provided, yet we will settle for what has been quoted above.
May Allah the Almighty give us all the opportunity to understand the Qur'an al kareem, and the hadith correctly, and may He prevent us from misinterpreting, or slandering other Muslims, by means of our own lack of knowledge.Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
