Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
Can you verify a hadith for me it is a Sahih moslim 249
Is the prophet our brother?
I remembered once, the prophet said: That he (pbuh) desired to meet his brothers, so the sahaba asked, arn't we your borthers? And he(pbuh) said, no you are my companions, my brothers are the ones who will come after me and believe in me and never saw me.

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa aalihi wa Sallam)Jazak'Allah for your question. It is quite wrong to assume that the Most Beloved Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) is a brother of the rest of the Muslims. In relation to a hadith which states 'my brothers are those who will come after me', refers to the strenghth of belief that all those Muslims will have, having not seen the Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam), nor Allah the Almighty, and still having faith in the religion of Islam. It is wrong therefore to interpret that the Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) is our brother, and having pride in that saying. The Qur'an al kareem has stated: 'Ma kana Muhammadun aba ahadim mir rijali kum wa lakir rasul ullahi wa khatimin nabiyyin'That the Beloved Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) is not the father of any one of you, but he is a Prophet of Allah, and He is the Seal of Messengership. Therefore someone who even says that I am your brother, yet is a Prophet has every right to do so, in making people understand the religion that was bought to them, but we should never be at liberty to disclose that He is our brother. We should at least have a little self respect in giving the status of Our Prophet and or Prophethood, and not brotherhood, afterall, what is higher in status? Prophethood or brotherhood? Obviously Prophethood, therefore to lower the status of Prophethood into brotherhood would be to lower the status of the Most Beloved of Almighty Allah, (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam) and this is not only displeasing to Allah the Almighty, but also to the rest of His creation. May Allah the Almighty give us all the tawfiq to uphold the rank and status of the Most Beloved Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam), and may He help us to defend His ideals, wherever we can.
