Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam Jazak'allah for your question. Your question can be misleading however, so i will try to answer it from my understanding. If by your question you mean that do the 'salafis --- who are a modern day sect of Islam' celebrate Eid Milad un Nabi {the Birth of the Final Messenger, Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam}, then the answer to your question is ''no'' ! These modern day so called salafis claim it is a bid'ah [innovation] and they normally present all those ahadith which are related to bid'ah [innovation] in contravention of commemorating Milad shareef. If by Salafi you mean the 'pious predecessors' [ salaf as-Saliheen], who lived hundreds of years ago, then at that time they did not have any opposition to those people who commemorated the Milad because : a] They commemorated 'Milad Shareef' themselves, b] They did not regard it as a bid'ah as the modern day salafi do. Those scholars who did say it was a bid'ah didnt do so to eradicate the commemoration of it, and it wasnt their intention to. However they were in the minority of scholars, and those that did commemorate did not regard it as a bid'ah either. Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM.
