All Praise is due to Allah, Subhanahu wa Taala, The Knower of all things, the apparent and the hidden, that which we reveal and that which we conceal in our hearts, & Endless Mercy & Peace upon His Beloved Messenger, Salla Allahu alayhi wa Sallam, his Dear Companions, & his Pure Ahl al-Bayt.
Allah, with His Name I begin; The Most Compassionate, The Most Merciful.
It should be of no surprise for any discerning Muslim to find so many variant sects within Islam. It is a well known fact that the rise of Sunni Orthodoxy in Islam as a body of Doctrine and Practice emerged itself largely due to earlier sectarian developments.
The Authentic Orthodox beliefs and Practices conciously developed through the earliest of pre-reflective attitudes and thus can claim to represent "original" or "orthodox" Islam in a very important sense.
Islam in its early youth faced sectarian proliferation within two or three decades of the Prophet's, Salla Allahu alayhi wa Sallam, demise.
Both political and religious factors played a consistent and interactive role in the sectarian phenomena. The threats of this phenomena were so serious to the nucleus of this New Community; its belief and practice, that it became the starting point for debates, arguments and counter-arguments.
These early attitudes - over the subsequent centuries generated theological, legal and spiritual rationales. These finally became permanently settled and provided an unexceptionable and unique framework for whatever future elaboration, alteration, development and reform may take place or had been attempted.
The Messenger of Allah, Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam, foretold many such future occurences, events and significant roles to be assumed by prominent individuals.
He, Salla Allahu 'alayhi wa Sallam, also foretold, "Soon my Ummah will split into seventy three groups all of whom will be in the fire, save one."
The Scholars Of Usul al-Aqa'id, say that there are two categories of Ummah; 1) Ummah al- Ijabah; the Ummah which has accepted the Prophetic call, and 2) Ummah al-Dawat; the Ummah which is invited to the Prophetic call. The former, Ummah al-Ijabah is referred to in the above hadith.
So the Muslims will split into seventy-three groups, this includes the shiah. The Sunni and the Shiah are the two mainstream groups in Islam. The shiah simply because they are traced back to the first apparent dissention in the youth of Islam. And, because of their fundamental theological and principal allegation of the ultimate right to succession and leadership of Muslims being exclusive to the Ahl al-Bayt.
The True group, the Firqah al-Najiyyah; the Saved Sect/group of Islam is undoubtedly the Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah; the People of the Prophetic Sunnah and the Authentic Community, who adhere to the manifestation of the historical truth and methodology of the Salf al-Salihin; the Pious Predecessors, respect, honour & uphold the excellence of the Prophetic Companions and likewise, the Pure Ahl al-Bayt, the great Hadith Masters, Fiqh specialists, acknowledge their monumental & unprecedented contribution to Islam, the Ulama & Awliya of Allah, uphold the validity of the four major schools of Islamic Jurisprudence, the Maliki, Hanafi, Shafi'iy and Hanbali schools of law, hold belief in the Finality of Prophethood and that the Karamat of the Awliya' Allah are true and continuous.
And, Allah, The Most Glorious and Sublime, is All-Knowing.
