Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem
Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuPraise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa aalihi wa sa'abihi wa Sallam)The question seems to suggest that the original questioner was unaware of the events that took place prior to the
shahadah of Sayyadina Imam Hussayn
(Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu). It is common sense to say that, Sayyadina Imam Hussayn
(Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu), was called by this group of people who were claiming to be his devotees, and who were living in Kufa. The saying that goes is,
'Kufi la Yufi', meaning, that the 'Kufis are not sincere'.
They were the ones who wanted the
Bay'ah of first Imam Muslim bin 'Aqil
(Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu), to which many did swear the oath of allegiance to, but later when Imam Muslim was martyred, Imam Hussain
(Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu) had been receiving these letters, some ninety thousand, from the Kufans, which led Imam Hussayn
(Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu) to believe that they needed help, that they were not going to swear allegiance to Yazid, and his governors, but intead, they were willing to swear the oath of allegiance to Sayyadina Imam Hussayn
(Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu).
Were these people then
Shi'ah, or were they the Ahl as-Sunnah w'al Jama'ah ? Since this is what the original questioner should have stated, nevertheless, it is known that they were the Ahl as-Sunnah w'al Jama'ah, and they were the people who wanted to get rid of Ibn-e-Ziyad from power, who was their governor, and they not only wanted to get rid of him, but also wanted Imam Hussain
(Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu) to rescue them, with the light of what true Islam was.
How can you then justify the question, that why did the Ahl as-Sunnah not then come to His aid? Did you want to see more catastrophe and bloodshed, so that you could have more days in mourning, for their
shahadat, or you just wanted to point a finger at someone to blame, so that what was once predicted by the Beloved Messenger of Allah
(Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa aalihi wa Sallam), could never have been predicted, although what was predicted became true.
All leaders, whether they were from amongst the
Ahl al-Bay'ah, or other Companions of the Most Noble Messenger of Allah
(Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam), felt that they had a duty to respond to, any falsehood, evil, darkness, which was attacking a certain kind of people. This is the reason why the beloved Messenger of Allah
(Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam) sent so many delegations to the different parts of the 'Arab world, so that they could show them what was the Straight Path.
Similarly, it was necessary for Sayyadina Imam Hussain
(Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu) to visit Kufa since this is where the demand of his presence was. It was during the journey to Kufa, that Sayyadina Imam Hussain
(Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu) stopped at Karbala, and found himself with His immediate family at this point for a period of three days, even though they were travelling, they still eventually found themselves in the same spot they had journeyd from.
How was it then possible that, anyone could come to their aid, when in reality, what had been predicted by the beloved Messenger of Allah
(Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa aalihi wa Sallam), what Sayyadina Imam Hussain
(Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu) regarded as their duty, and what the people requred as a means of salvation from the
Ahl al-Bay'ah, all of which had to be regarded as the truth.
If Allah the Almighty wills for something to happen, it happens, that is common sense. But where do you then get the notion of ''why did no one come to his aid'', when what was once written by the Almighty, had to be true, and then just steer at that, instead of raising questions ?
Had the Ahl as-Sunnah w'al Jama'ah known of the position of Sayyadina Imam Hussain
(Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu), they too would have come in their millions to help the Beloved Grandson of the Most Noble Messenger of Allah
(Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa aalihi wa Sallam), but how can one then come to the aid of someone who is in between two territories, where there is no water, let alone friend, and where the power lies in the hands of the enemy.
Through all this immense travelling and hardship, by the Imam, it would be sufficient to say that, the people of Madinah did not want the Imam to leave, but it was His obligation, which he had inherited from His Beloved Grandfather
(Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa aalihi wa Sallam), that he had to raise the flag of Islam, to full mast, that he had to answer the call to the peoples voice, and he had to visit his final destination, which had previously been promised to him. Then how is it possible that a third party, could intervene with what was ordained for the Imam?
This is what the original 'questioner' should have asked, if he had the belief and trust in the knowledge of the unseen, and the future predictions of the Beloved Messenger of Allah
(Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa aalihi Sallam), but since we are weak in this field, we have to raise questions from our subconcionce, so that we can justify our actions.
May Allah the Almighty give us the tawfiq to understand the position of the Shuhada', and may He prevent us from cross questioning, what He has already written.M. Waseem Ashrafi
