Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuAll Praise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved and Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa aalihi wa Sallam)Jazak'Allah for your question. By the looks of it, Dr. Israr Ahmad, does not seem to be qualified, to me, because of his figure of speech in the 'dars-e-Nizami', which would enable him to be called an 'Alim, or a Fadhil, let alone Imam. People use the word Imam loosely these days, which is a much greater status of authority, than people seem to think. These days people call anyone who is able to quote a few ahaadith, an Imam, yet the research that I have undertaken in one of the answers previously, amongst one of the archives, doesnt seem to suggest so. A Sunni 'Alim, will be recognised from the sermon he gives at the beginning of his talk. He will never have double standards, and will never support anyone who is in contravention to the common principles of the Ahl-al-Sunnah wal Jama'ah. He will never float in His speech, as all his talk will be backed up by evidence from the Qur'an al kareem, and the hadith. Nor will he ever say or agree to an issue, which has fundamental difference, in issues that relate to the Qur'an al kareem or hadith. Clearly, Dr. Israr Ahmad does what I have quoted above, and is not yet entrenched to the level of thinking that we expect of him. Therefore, he is not classed as an 'Alim, from the ancient school of the Ahl al-Sunnah wal Jama'ah, therefore to watch him, would be depriving yourself of learning other useful material, within that time. May Allah the Almighty, help us to learn from those who are qualified to teach, and may He keep us away from people who try to carry out missions, that are not qualified to do so.Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM.
