Assalamu 'Alaykum Imam sahb,
I know a brother who recently went to a church with some uni freinds. It was actually a multi faith event after the London bombings where other muslims were present. He didnt sing any hymns or anything but felt he had to go to strengthen his emaan. I have told him he could have done that at home or in the Mosque praying the Quran. So what i want to know is what is the correct ruling for guidance ?

Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim Wa'laykum-as-Salaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatuhu My brother your question relates to the fact that, and the answer that you gave to your friend is that ...., the Masjid always has, always is, and always will be the place where you can strenghthen your Imaan. Alhamdo-lillah, the brother knows, that when he feels the need, he can strenghthen his Imann. But would it not be beautiful, if the brother could remain, and everyone else be constant, all the time, in a state of Imaan? So that we knew what we would do every day, carried the correct intention, and the deed that we carried out, according to that intention was executed perfectly? If we have this sort of attitude, with the correct character, indeed, no doubt shall Allah the Almighty bestow his infinite Mercies upon his true slaves. A man may remember his creator everyday, whether in a church, in a Mosque, a gurdwara, or temple, yet what the main theme is that not to discourse oneself from the sight of Allah the Almighty. But such sufiistic advice is only valid, once we make that intention of being His. To do what he has asked us to do, and to prevent from what he has prohibited. To speak good of others, and to treat everyone equal. Not to desrespect anyone, and to fulfill the obligations that are owed to Creator and Man. Once we have mastered the above requirements, then you will be like a beacon which is immovable. And regardless of all the storms, and strong winds that appear in the form of evils, you shall be unmoved from the Straight Path. This is what true men are made of. May Allah grant us all the access to the above (amin), and may he make us understand the importance of our religion, our places of worship, and our guides. Wa maa Tawfiqi illaa Billahi ..... M. Waseem Ashrafi
