Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
How r u imam sahab? May this post find you and your family in good health.
I would like to know which is the best time to read iftar dua i.e., Before starting Iftar or After eating Iftar and before Maghrib azan.
One of my friend is saying that "The Sunnat of RASOOL ALLAH Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam is to eat something or drink water at time of Maghrib Azaan and then
read the Dua e Aftaar i.e.
Allahumma Innie Laka Sumtu Wa bika Aamantu Wa Alaika Tawakkaltu Wa Alaa Rizqika Aftartu. "
Kindly let us know which is the correct and the best way as followed by our Huzoor Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam
Many thanks in advance. duaon ki darkhwast. JazakALLAH

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuPraise be to Allah who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and Final Messenger of Islam, Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa SallamJazak'allah for your question. The du'a should be read before placing food in the mouth. It is proven from ahadith, that at the time of breaking the fast, all du'as are accepted. This was also the practice of the Beloved Messenger of Allah Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam. Not only that, but also whatever we normally do, it is before that we recite the du'a, in the form of a niyyat. For example when we go to the toilet, we say du'a first, when we do wudhu', we say du'a first, when we eat, we say Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem first, when we bathe we say the du'a first, so when we break our fast, it is before that we recite the du'a. This is why we have the famous hadith: 'innamal a'malu binniyati'
'Indeed all actions revolve around the intention ...' (numerous ahadith) May Allah the Almighty give us all the du'as so we can thank Him in all areas of our lives. (Amin)Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi Recommended Reading : Power of Du'a
