Asalamo Alaikum
I was asked to refer this dream to you
What does it mean, when dreaming, you are fasting in the dream and break it (i.e drinking water) well before aftari, like mid morning? Does this mean anything if this dream is re-occurring?
Jazakallah

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem, Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu, Jazakallah for entrusting me with your question. In a book called 'Ta'bir ar Ru'yah', by 'Allamah Ibn-e-Sirin (Rehmatullahi ’Alaih), he has a little chapter entitled - To keep the Fast. (This is a close interpretation of the dream you described). He interprets all those occurances, while keeping the fast, but there was only one occasion where he quotes breaking the fast. He stated that if a person breaks his fast intentionally, it is a sign that he will be called to go on a journey. The other interpretation that he gave in relation to one breaking his fast was that it meant that a person could become ill. In addition to this, Hadrat Jaffar Sadiq (Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu), had stated that to keep a fast in a dream would mean the following: 1) Being wise and elderly, 2) Becoming rich, 3) Becoming healthy, 4) Having a rank/station, 5) Repentance, 6) Victory, 7) Blessing, 8) Hajj, 9) Struggle (Jihad), 10) Boy. These are the ten things that were quoted by Imam Ja'far Sadiq (Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu), and thought they would be of some use, as you must have kept a fast in order to break it. I hope Insha' Allah that some of these interpretations may be what you were looking for. May Allah the Almighty guide us all. (Amin).Wallahu A'lamu Biththawaab M. Waseem Ashrafi
