Assalamualaykum,
From last few months we(my family) are facing some problem regarding to some issues. we are not agree on one dicision. few days ago we had a big discussion with no result. The result was we will make a dua and inshallah Allah(swat) will make a right dicision in our favour. I praied istakhara salah and made dua but didn't see any dream. but one of my aunt saw a dream which was a good one. Still I m confused about disition but some issues are clear if the dream of relatives is valid for my istakhara? Aunt is not involved in this matter and she doesn't even know anything about our problem. but still she saw a dream and not me? Will it be true?

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem,
Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
Praise be to Allah the Master of all the Worlds, and endless blessings be upon His Messenger (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa Sallam).
Istikhara is a good way of obtaining whether one should perform an act, or not. It means to seek help from Allah the Almighty, or whomever Allah the Almighty has accepted to act in this situation, for the benefit of people.
In cases where a group of members of a family are involved in a particular issue, then it is permissable for those that are involved, to perform istikhara.
However, the person who is directly involved should also perform istikhara, until he gets the right signal, from Allah the Almighty.
Istikhara has been the practice of Muslims throughout centuries, as it has had many additions to the way it should be performed. According to a hadith, two cycles of nafl prayer should be performed afterwhich a supplication should be made, and Allah the Almighty will either grant that person permission, or refuse the permission for whatever was intended.
It is not necessary that you do see a dream, after making the intention for istikhara. However some methods that do prescribe going to sleep may give you the positive results, whereas most istikhara tell you either straight away, or after some time.
Once again, the person whose decision is to be made, should keep on performing istikhara until he recieves the desired result of what should be done.
May Allah the Almighty help us all in making the right decisions in life, and may we always seek the help of our Lord, who is the Greatest.
Wallahu A'lamu Biththawaab.
M. Waseem Ashrafi.
