Salaam. I have had dreams about jinn posessing members of my family and trying to trick me. However, when i stand up to them and tell them i know who they are, they try to kill me. Each time i recite surahs from the qur'an and they seem to suffer and leave me and at which time i wake up. A few times one will pose as a dead relative whom is close to me and decieve my family in my dream but i try and warn them, and when i do it tries to kill me whilst still in the form of my dead relative, and when i recite it tells me that there is no point and that the surahs have no effect on them, but i persist and wake up. These dreams dont occur everyday but they do occur frequently and i am always quite scared when i wake up. They always are similar and it always takes place in my house. I don't know if it is because i live right next to a graveyard but i have always lived near one and it does not bother me. I would like to know why i have these dreams and how to stop them. Thank you"

Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu Praise be to Allah the Almighty who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, Ennobled Messenger, the Last Prophet of Islam (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa 'aalihi wa Sallam).Jazakallah for your question on dreams sister. I have tried to look into finding what the interpretation of your dream could mean. Unfortunately, there were other interpretations for seeing the dead in a dream. One such interpretation of seeing a dead person in a dream, who has come back to life, was related by Hadrat Ibrahim Karmani Rehmatullahi ’Alaih, who stated that, if one sees a dead person come back to life in a dream, this means that his position will become a pious one. However, as far as jinns are concerned, I was unable to find any interpretations on this. Similarly, I looked under 'demons', but was unable to find anything in relation to this also. What I suggest you do, is before going to sleep, after you have prayed your 'Isha' salah, is to recite 'Subhan Allah' 33 times, 'Alhamdo lillah' 33 times, and 'Allahu Akbar 34 times before you lie down in bed. Once you have laid down, recite the four 'Quls', that is 'Qul Ya ayyuhal kafirun', 'Qul huwallahu ahad', 'Qul a'udhu bi rabbil falaq', and 'Qul a'udhu bi rabbin nas'. Then you must recite the 'al Fatehah', which is 'Al Hamdu lillahi rabbil 'alamin'. These Surahs will prevent you from having any bad dreams, and will replace them by good ones. It will also keep any bad spirits that are around your house, or from the graveyard away. Finally recite the 'Ayat al Kursi', which shall safegard you during the night. You must ensure that you pray five times salah, everyday, and recite 100 verses from the Qur'an everyday. You dont want to fall captive to bad spirits, by making yourself an easy target for them. You should also try and recite as much 'Durood Shareef' that you possibly can manage. However, by acting upon the above, you will keep them at bay, and they will start recognising you. May Allah the Almighty keep us all safe from the evils of this world, and the hereafter. May He make this world, and the next world a safer place for us to live in.Wallahu A'lamu Biththawaab M.
