Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa BarakatuhuPraise be to Allah, who is the Lord of the Worlds, and may Endless Blessings be showered upon His Most Beloved, and the Final Messenger of Islam, Hadrat Muhammad Mustafa (Salla Allahu ta'ala 'alayhi wa aalihi wa Sallam)Jazak'Allah for your question. Yes, zakaah can be given to poor relatives and family. They have the first right, to the zakaah which is owed by you. The order of giving zakaah to poor people is somewhat like this: - First your direct immediate family
- Next your close relations, eg. uncles, aunties, nephews and nieces
- Those who live close by you (this is regardless of whether they are in example; India or Pakistan)
- Those who are geographically closer to you after that. For example, the poor students in a madrassah, or poor neighbours, etc
May Allah give us all the tawfiq, to contribute to the worship of the needy, whether it is financially, mentally, spiritually, or physically, i.e. Hajj.Wallahu A'lamu BiththawaabM. Waseem Ashrafi
