We know that Dua (supplication) is a type of worship, so it is essential to discuss the pre-conditions that are necessary if we wish for our Dua to be answered. Just like our Salaat will not be accepted until we perform the necessary pre-requisites, such as wudu, facing the Qiblah and covering the body. Likewise our dua will likely not be accepted until some pre-requisites are met.
Let's see what Allah ta'ala tells us about Dua for surely "Allah's promise is the truth, and whose word can be truer than Allah's?" (4:122)
The Realisation that Only Allah Responds to Dua
"Who else is there that responds to the call of the one in distress when he calls out, and He removes evil from him, and makes you inheritors of the earth ? Is there any other God besides Allah? Little is it that you remember!" (27:62)
We must fully believe that only Allah (SWT) is capable of hearing our prayer, and only Allah (SWT) has the power to grant us what we desire.

Dua for Friday
An Hour On Friday
Narrated Abu Hurairah Radi Allahu anhu: Allah’s Messenger (SAW) talked about Friday and said: 'There is an hour on Friday and if a Muslim gets it while offering Salat (prayer) and asks something from Allah (SWT), then Allah (SWT) will definitely meet his demand.' And he (the Prophet (SAW) pointed out the shortness of that particular time with his hands.[Sahih al-Bukhari]
Some have said that this hour is from the time the Imam (prayer’s leader) enters the mosque on Friday’s prayer until the prayer is over (ie between the two khutbahs), whereas others have said that it is the last hour of the day (ie after the Asr prayer until the Maghrib prayer).

Supplication on waking
Alhamdulillaahil-Ladhee Ahyaanaa Ba'da Maa Amaatanaa, Wa Ilayhin-Nushoor.
All praise is due to Him who gave us life after He took it away from us, and unto Him is the Resurrection.
Related Hadith Abu Hurairah (Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu ta'ala alayhi wa Sallam ) said: “Shaytaan ties three knots at the back of the head of any one of you when you go to sleep. On every knot he reads and exhales the following words, -The night is long, so stay asleep.- [i.e. Do not wake up in time for Fajr prayer.] When one awakes and remembers Allah, one knot is undone; and when one does wuduu’, another knot is undone; and when one performs the prayer, the last knot is undone and one gets up energetic with a good heart in the morning; otherwise one gets up lazy and with a mischievous heart.” (Bukhari)
Keep believing, Allahs hears every prayer.

Dua of submissiveness and for repentance :
I pray to You like one contemptible, disgraceful, poor, needy, timid and seeking refuge. Moreover, (I pray) fearfully, humbly, craving protection and imploring shelter, neither inflated with the pride of the haughty, nor elated, with the conceit of the obedient, nor arrogant on account of the mediation of intercessors,
I am he who disobeyed You deliberately,
I am the one who concealed (my faults) from Your creatures and committed them in Your Sight,
I am he who feared Your creatures and felt secure from You, I am he who did not fear Your Power and did not dread Your Wrath,
I am the transgressor against my own soul I am the one pledged to my penalties,
I am the possessor of little modesty,
Encompass me in a manner I may not know, with an enclosure wherein to protect me,
Open for me the gates of Your repentance wad Your Mercy and Your Grace and Your ample Sustenance,
Surely I am one of those who beg of You,
Accomplish for me Your Reward, surely, You are the best giver of reward.

What to Say When you Wear Something New
The Beloved Messenger of Allah Sallaallaho alaihe wasallam was such that if he newly acquired clothing he would name it by its name: either shirt, or turban, then, he would say: 'Allahumma laka 'Al-hamdu 'anta kasawtaneehi 'as'aluka min khayrihi wa khayra ma suni`a, wa 'a`outhu bika min sharrihi wa sharri ma suni`a lahu
Footnotes : O 'Allah to You is all praise, You have clothed it upon me. I ask You the good of it, and the good it was made for; and I seek refuge in You from the evil of it, and the evil it was made for.

Salaatul Tasbih
It is recorded in Sunan Abi Dawud and other books of hadith that Rasulullah (Salla Allahu ta'ala alayhi wa Sallam) once said to his uncle Hadrat `Abbas (Radi Allahu ta'ala anhu) : O Abbas! O my uncle! Shall I not give you a gift? Shall I not show you something by means of which Allah Ta'ala will forgive your sins, the first and the last of them, the past and recent, the unintentional and the intentional, the small and huge, the secret and open?
Rasulullah (Salla Allahu ta'ala alayhi wa Sallam) then taught him the Salah al-Tasbih. Furthermore he advised him that it be offered daily, if possible. If not then every Friday or once a month or once a year or at least once in one's life time.
Salah al-Tasbih consists of 4 raka`at. It can be performed any time of the day or night except at the makruh times. The following tasbih is recited seventy-five times in each rak`ah totalling 300 in the 4 raka`at.
Subhaanallaahi walhamdu lillaahi walaa ilaaha illallaahu wallaahu akbar
The method of this salah is as follows:
After beginning the salah by saying Allah-u-Akbar recite the thana ', Sura al-Fatiha and a Sura followed by the above tasbih 15 times. Then go into Ruku and after reciting the usual tasbih for ruku` recite the above tasbih 10 times. After standing up from ruku` recite the usual Rabbana Lakal Hamd and thereafter recite the tasbih 10 times. Then go into Sajda and after reciting the usual tasbih for sajda recite the above tasbih 10 times. Then sit up from sajda and recite the tasbih 10 times between the two sajdas.
Thereafter go into sajda again and after reciting the usual tasbih for sajda recite the above tasbih 10 times. Then sit after the 2nd sajda (i.e. before standing up for the second rak`ah) and recite the tasbih 10 times. This adds up to 75 times in one rak`ah. Do the same for the remaining 4 raka`at.

Narrated An-Nu'man bin Bashir (RAD): Allah's Messenger (Salla Allahu tala alaihi wa Sallam) said, "Dua (supplication) is worship." [Abu Dawud]
Narrated Anas (RadiAllahu anhu): "The supplication most often recited by Allah's Messenger (Salla Allahu tala alaihi wa Sallam) was: "Allahummma atina fid-dunya hasanatan, wa fil-akhirati hasanatan, wa qina 'adhab-annar (O our Lord! give us in this world that which is good and in the Hereafter that which is good, and save us from the punishment of the Fire).'" Dua for Muharram ;
My Allah, Thou art the eternal God, this is the beginning of another new year; I, therefore, request Thee, in this hour, to keep off Satan (Shaytan), to give me control over my "self" inclined to sin and deviation, so that it brings me near Thee, O Compassionate! O the Owner of majesty and kindness! O Supporter of him who has no supporter! O Provider of him who has no provision! O He who watches over him who has no protection! O He who comes to help him who has no hope of help! O Reliance for him who has no one to lean upon! O Treasure of him who has nothing in the purse! O He who knows well how to put to test and trial! O the Ultimate Hope! O the Strength of the weak! O the Rescuer of the drowning! O He who saves from destruction! O He who bestows bounties! O He who shows courtesy and treats with benevolence! O he who treats with kindness and generosity! O He who does favours! Thou art he before whom prostrate in adoration the blackness of the night and the brightness of the day, the moonlight of the moon, the sunlight of the sun, the ripple of the water, the trunks of the trees! O Allah, There is no associate with Thee! O Allah make us generous, good and high-minded, more than that which they can imagine or speculate, cover and escort us with that which they know not, and do not (even) associate us with that which they say. Sufficient is Allah (for me), there is no god save He, on Him I rely, and He is the Lord of the Great Arsh. We believe that all is from our Lord, and do not say (this) save those who have sincere hearts and intelligent minds. Our Lord! Cause not our hearts to stray after Thou has guided us, and bestow upon us mercy from Thy Presence. Verily Thou art the Bestower.

Mashaallah, good to see this thread was kept going.
The Beloved Prophet Muhammad (Salla Allahu ta'ala alayhi wa Sallam),was a great believer in prayers (dua) he made supplications to his lord with a zeal and favour rarely to be found in the religious literature of the world.
One cannot but be overwhelmed with the depth of feelings with which he addressed Allah (Subhana wa ta'ala), intense love of the Great Master, deep consciousness of His unbounded favours, unshakable confidence in the Divine Mercy, and unfaltering faith in his Might and Power and sense of deep humility- these are the multicoloured threads with which is woven.
The delicate pattern of the Beloved Prophet Muhammad's (Salla Allahu ta'ala alayhi wa Sallam) Prayers.
O Opener of Allah (Subhanahu Wa ta'ala)! There is no God but thee. Thy Glory I extol verily, I have been of the wrongdoers. Let There be blessings of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala) upon the best of the created. The name of whom is Hadrat Muhammad (Salla Allahu alayhi wa Sallam), upon his family and all his close associates be your Grace O the Merciful of the Mercifuls.
