Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu,
I have recently discovered a lot of shampoos/conditioners for hair contain alcohol. I have asked a Maulana whether this makes them Haram and he says that it does. I was wondering does anyone know of Halal shampoos/conditioners etc as it is a real struggle to find them here in NZ. I expect if they are available I would have to try buying them online. I have tried searching google but without much luck.
Jazak Allah Khair,
Fi Amanillah.

Assalamu 'Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu
I'm not questioning the maulana at all here but I thought the reason alcohol is haram is because if its nature of intoxication, therfore thought alcohol in products such as shampoos can't do any harm to us and is safe to use?

But thats like saying 'yes' it's haram to drink it, but its halal to put on our bodies! No thanks i'll stick with the shariah.

Wa'alaykum 'Assalam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu I think shampoo is one of those masale's that will always divide the ulama, like using toothpaste whilst fasting. Personally i think its good that our scholars differ slightly because it shows they are not sheep following one another and have taken care and thought to arrive at their decisions. I think you need to have a certain amount of chemistry knowledge to have an opinion never mind make a decision. So i'll pass not my strongest forte.
